Photovoltaics   1839 Alexandre Edmond Becquerel (1820-1891) dicovered the photoelectric effect. At experiments with electrolytical cells, he was using platin anodes and kathodes, he detected a higher level of current while having light instead of darcness. This was the basis of photovoltaik.
